Looking to the future! Wearing some pieces to be released online this fall!

Looking to the future! Wearing some pieces to be released online this fall!

I have been reading proverbs the past couple of weeks.  Proverbs has a lot to say about acquiring wisdom, knowledge and instruction.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 8:11
For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.

Proverbs 11:14
Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Proverbs 12:15
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.

Proverbs 19:20
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.

Proverbs 15:22
Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Proverbs 19:21
There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand.

I could go on and on!  lol!  The Bible has much to say about these things.  I have been reading these bits of wisdom as I have been praying and asking the Lord for wisdom and help in business matters.  What do I do with this bum wrist and hand of mine?  How do I grow and develop the business bigger than myself and my own abilities?  What venues do I need to be looking at to expand to?  Questions, Questions and more Questions!

And then less than a week ago I found an e-mail buried in my inbox from some time ago, while I was rummaging around for something else, and I had a big ‘Ah ha!’  moment.  So tonight I head off to San Francisco to the Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs , “three days of learning with some of today’s most successful creative entrepreneurs,” to get me some instruction, counsel and wisdom on business matters. Yeah!  Thank you Lord!

So I appreciate your prayers this weekend for myself, my hands, and this business and ministry!  Pray for divine appointments and relationships.  Pray for divine inspiration and revelation.  Pray for tools, partnerships, information, etc that will help me do all that I aspire to do with Salt & Light by Lori Delisle and beyond.

Bless You all and hope to return with an awesome report!

Abundance of the HEART - Gold Fill Heart Necklace

Abundance of the HEART - Gold Fill Heart Necklace

I recently added this subtitle to the description for the Salt & Light by Lori Delisle line:

“Prophetic Christian Jewelry”

This may seem a bit odd to many of you.

“How can jewelry be prophetic?”  “What exactly does it mean to be prophetic?”

The entire idea may seem a bit mysterious, so I want to add a little light to the subject.

What is Prophecy?

These seemingly intimidating words are really beautiful when you understand what they mean.   The type of prophecy I am referring to is not the same thing as that which is done by the office of a Prophet (note the capital ‘P’), like those many of us know, Isaiah, Elijah, Elisha, Daniel and others.  I am referring to the type which Webster’s American Dictionary of the English Language (1828) defines as:

SON SHINE - Citrine and Lemon Quartz Gemstones on Gold Fill -- Necklace and Earring Set

SON SHINE - Citrine and Lemon Quartz Gemstones on Gold Fill -- Necklace and Earring Set

prophesy — to preach; to instruct in religious doctrines; to interpret or explain scripture or religious subjects; to exhort.

exhort — (The primary sense seems to be to excite or to give strength, spirit or courage) to incite by words or advice; to animate or urge by arguments to a good deed or to any laudable conduct or course of action.

This type of prophecy, the kind that the Holy Spirit gives us to encourage one another in our walk with Christ, should by no means be mysterious to those who believe.  In fact we are admonished to earnestly desire this gift because of how it benefits the body of Christ.

“Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy…he who prophesies speaks edification and comfort to men.”

1 Corinthians 14:1&3

Prophecy is for the purpose of edifying and comforting one another.

edification — A building up, in a moral and religious sense ; instruction ; improvement and progress of the mind, in knowledge, in morals, or in faith and holiness.

Shouldn’t we all be doing this?

Can Jewelry be Prophetic?

PIERCED - Hand Forged Gold Fill & Sterling Silver Stacking Rings

PIERCED - Hand Forged Gold Fill & Sterling Silver Stacking Rings

The prophetic is no new thing to the Salt & Light line.  I know that the line does encourage, comfort, give strength, preach, and more.  I receive thank you notes all the time from customers and casual browsers telling me of that very fact.  But it only came to my realization recently that by doing those things, with the Word of God that accompanies each piece, with the little notes I write on occasion by the unction of the Holy Spirit, with the words you give to those you love as you gracefully give a treasured gift to a friend, that the pieces are in fact prophetic.  Any time we bring a word of comfort or encouragement that carries with it the desire to pursue on in our faith, anytime we speak words of life to another, anytime we reveal the truth of God’s Word, we are being prophetic.

So let me encourage you not to be afraid of being the one who brings an encouraging word to a friend or neighbor.  All you need to do is earnestly pray and ask God to give you that word by His Spirit.  Like anything good in life, it takes a little practice to learn to tune out the sounds of this world and tune in to Him, but it is so worth it in the end.

Jayden brings us our gratefulness today (or rather yesterday.)  He begged me to be the next one to put a feather in the turkey, even though I asked him if I could have a turn.  He said “Mom, I’m thankful for church!”  I asked him why and he said “Because it is fun!”

I love that my sons love to go to church!

Jayden with his new feather and his "Thunder" stick from church last night.

I Love that my sons love to go to church!  We all love our church.  We love our church family, we love our pastors, we love our church’s vision and mission.  We know how important it is to come together as one body to worship together, to learn and grow together and to encourage one another.

14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”  Colossians 3

Celebrating 30 Years

This week our church is celebrating 30 years of ministry with our annual “Thunder in the Bay” Conference.  We have been here for 12 years of it and plan on many more years to come.  We are grateful for our pastor’s vision.

It has been a privilege to serve at our church, and even more that we have gotten to help celebrate.  Wednesday night Dennis and I got to roll in the celebrations by dancing in a ‘flash mob’ for opening night, and last night two of my boys sang with the choir in front of 1,000′s of people.  So fun!

I hope you are grateful for your church family.  And if you don’t have one, you gotta go out and get involved with a local, Bible preaching church with a heart for God and a love for people.

Be Blessed!

My sweet Joseph brings us our gratitude for today.  He is our tender hearted worshiper with a ton of energy and a lively spirit.

No longer the Thanksgiving Bunny Rabbit!

No longer the "Thanksgiving Bunny Rabbit!"

His feather reads “I am thankful for choir.”  I asked him why he was thankful for being in choir and he said it was because he got to sing and stand up for the Lord.  Ahhhh, the heart of a 7 year old!

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Early Thanksgiving Treats

Thanksgiving is not a day, it should be a lifestyle.  To celebrate today, I surprised the boys with an early Thanksgiving treat, a simple pear and berry cobbler.  This is super easy and fast to throw together, and I was able to use up a couple of very over ripe pears.

Loris Berry & Pear Cobbler

Here is the ‘Recipe’:

1.  Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray the bottom of a tart pan (basically a shallow pie plate) with a non-stick cooking spray.

2.  Spread a layer of frozen berries in the bottom of the tart pan.  Top with 2 ripe pears cut into chunks.

3.  In a small bowl combine about 3 Tbls. butter, 2 Tbls. flour, large handful of brown sugar, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 tsp of cinnamon and just a dash of cloves and nutmeg.  Use a fork to combine until mixed and crumbly.

4.  Sprinkle topping over fruit and bake in oven about 20 minutes until bubbly and slightly golden.  Serve warm or cooled.  With ice cream or a little whipped cream is extra yummy!

Yummy and has some nutritional value too!
