A wooden cross, designed for punishing criminals, thieves and murderers hung one who was perfect, who had no sin.  A King, humbled and humiliated, battered and bruised, for the sins of the world.

  • Excerpts from Matthew 27

28They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head.  They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. 30They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

The Crucifixion

32…they met a man…and they forced him to carry the cross. 33They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull)… 35When they had crucified him… 37Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42″He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’  …50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.  51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus’ resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.  54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

  • “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:37-39
  • “On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelations 19:16

It was an act of complete love.     To give up every earthly thing; fame, power, influence, love, family, friends, wealth, peace, His entire life, so that you and I could live eternally in the presence of God in heaven.  I am so grateful for that sacrifice. And I willingly give up my earthly life for a life of service to my Heavenly King.

Designer Lori Delisle in Monte Carlo

Me in Monte Carlo, Spring 2013. Click here to see a necklace like the one I’m wearing!

Standing by a giant planter box filled with enormous bright red tulips, I looked down into the harbor, flanked by Monaco on one side and Monte Carlo on the other.  Crews were starting to set up for the Monaco Grand Prix. I couldn’t help but think that we were right where Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke had battled it out in Iron Man 2.  But the sight that had us completely enamored was the Lady Moura, one of the largest privately owned superyachts in the world.  This one would definitely make it onto “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.”  It is rumored that the yacht’s name, carved in 3D letters on its sides, is actually solid 24kt gold.

Monte Carlo is truly an extravagant place.  You know you’ve hit another level when the BMW’s and Mercedes are valeted at the back so the real luxury cars can be front and center.  It’s like a posh Disneyland with two story tall crystal chandeliers in the mall and a casino that makes you feel like you have walked into a James Bond movie.

This opulence is what sparks the Monte Carlo style in some of my collections.  I like to classify the style of  my pieces by unique cities around the world.  Jewelry with my Monte Carlo style evokes the opulent whimsy of tulips, popping bottles of champagne, and Belle Epoque architecture.

Their “disco ball” look may also remind you of Vegas but if you’ve seen the plans for the new space age pavilions slated to sit across from the Monte Carlo Casino and to be finished in 2018, it should all make complete sense.
